NEW BRANCH SPONSORSHIP

The North of England Branch were delighted to receive a sponsorship cheque from
Agri Lloyd Nutritional Solutions. The money will be used for the continued promotion of the
North of England Blackfaced Sheep. The cheque was presented at the branch meeting on 17th May 2010

Carrs Billington Agriculture Ltd
The North of England Branch were delighted to receive a sponsorship cheque from
Carrs Billington Agriculture Ltd. The money will be used for the continued promotion of the
North of England Blackface Sheep. The cheque was presented at the annual stockjudging event at Hexham Mart on 17th February 2010

STOCKJUDGING EVENT
The annual stockjudging event was held on 17th February 2010 and was hosted by Hexham and Northern Marts, to whom we are most grateful for their continued support of the branch.
Over 200 competitors took part in the event which was generously sponsored by Schering-Plough/Intervet, Carrs Billington Agriculture Ltd, Robson & Cowan and BOCM Feeds.
The event was expertly judged by Mr John Pattinson, Hott Bank, Bardon Mill.
There were 10 classes to be judged
1. Blackface Ewes (Loaned by Closehead)
2. Blackface Tup Hoggs (Loaned by Yatesfield)
3. Swaledale Ewes (Loaned by Harwood Shield)
4. Blackface Tups (Loaned by Stewart Shields)
5. Mule Ewe Hoggs (Loaned by Branton East Side)
6. Blackface Ewes (Loaned by Unthank)
7. Bluefaced Leicester Tup Hoggs (Loaned by Gapshield)
8. Blackface Ewe Hoggs (Loaned by Wanwood Hill)
9. Blackface Gimmers (Loaned by Great Chesters)
10. Overall Champion - Blackface Tup from Stewart Shields)
The judge also awarded the Potter Wood and Henry Walton Memorial Trophy for the Best Dressed Pen of Sheep to the Bluefaced Leicester Tup Hoggs from Mr. W Wallace of Gapshield.

Under 16 Class - 1st. Abby Marston (386 points) 2nd. Clare Dent (370 points) Joint 3rd. Amy Bousfield and Thomas Hope (353 points)
The judging classes were followed with open Tup Hogg classes for both Hexham and Scotch Type Tup Hoggs. A tremendous show were put before the judge who made his award as follows.
Hexham Type - 1st. Thornton Tower, 2nd. Tecket, 3rd. Sewingshields
Scotch Type - 1st .Greenleighton, 2nd. Bilsmoor Park 3rd. Bilsmoor Park
A very enjoyable night was had by all who attended and the branch would like to thank all of those who helped in any way, including The Directors and Staff at Hexham Auction Mart, Scott Mitchell Associates (Vets for the event), Caroline, Sarah and the team of girls doing the scoring, all sponsors and all those who brought sheep for judging.

North Sheep 2009
North Sheep was held on Wednesday 3rd June 2009 at Laund Farm, Chipping, Preston, Lancashire by kind permission of John Stott and family.
Members of the North of England branch along with Aileen, John & Billy manned the Blackface Sheep Breeders Association stand at the event.

The stand looked very impressive, the sheep exhibited were of high quality and a lot of interest was shown by the visitors on the day.
